How it works

What does Booh actually do?

A simple, kid-sized safety alarm your child carries with them. One pull sets off a 130dB siren and a built-in flashlight β€” loud and bright enough to turn heads and draw nearby people's attention, the moment your child needs it.

Help in the moment

If your child ever feels scared or something goes wrong, one pull is all it takes. The siren is loud enough that everyone nearby turns to look β€” drawing help right to them, instantly.

Made for children

Small, light, and genuinely designed for kids. Simple enough that a child can use it without thinking, and small enough they'll actually keep it on them.

Nothing to set up

No app, no subscription, no pairing, no tracking dot to watch. Charge it with USB-C, clip it on, and it just works β€” every single day.

Our story

Why we made Booh

We're two parents β€” Emma and Tom β€” and a few years ago our daughter started doing all the normal things: walking to a friend's, going a little further on her own. We wanted to give her that independence. But we couldn't shake one thought: if something ever went wrong in the minutes she was out of sight, and we weren't there, what could she actually do?

We looked for something. The trackers and apps only told us where she was β€” they did nothing for her in the moment. The personal alarms were big, adult things made for women walking to their cars at night, not for a child. There was nothing simple enough she'd actually carry, that could bring help to her the second she needed it.

So we built it. Booh is the thing we wished existed when our own daughter first walked out the door alone β€” one pull, loud enough to draw the people nearby, no phone, nothing to figure out. We made it for our daughter first. We're proud to have made it for yours too.

My daughter is 8 and just started doing little things on her own β€” walking to her friend's two streets over, popping into the shop while I wait outside. I want to give her that, I really do, but the second she's out of sight my brain goes to the worst place. We tried a GPS watch and she hated it, said it felt like I didn't trust her. Saw this on Facebook and figured why not. It hasn't fixed my anxiety, nothing does, but it's the first thing that made the worry actually quieter. She keeps it on her backpack and I've stopped standing at the door waiting.

Bought this more for my wife if I'm honest, she's the worrier in our house. I'd been skeptical because so much of this stuff is basically a tracking gadget you strap to your kid, and I don't love the message that sends them. This is different β€” no app, nothing for me to monitor, just a loud alarm they control themselves. We tested it in the garden and the neighbour actually came out, that's when I got it. Both kids clip it to their bags now and my wife's stopped the anxious clock-watching every time they're out the door.

My kids are 13 and 15 and we're firmly in the "want to do everything on their own" stage β€” concerts, the bus into town, hours at the shopping centre. I want them to have that freedom. We'd done all the sensible stuff, phones charged, location sharing, the text-me-when-you-get-there rule, and it told me where they were but never answered the thing keeping me up: if something went wrong out there, what would they actually do? This filled that gap. One pull, deafening, no phone needed. The constant low-level dread when they're out has genuinely eased. Bought a third for my sister's boy too.

The Ritual

How to use Booh

Three steps. Nothing to figure out.

Charge it
01

Charge it

Charge Booh fully before the first use. The battery lasts for weeks of everyday carry, so a quick top-up now and then is all it needs β€” no batteries to buy or replace.

Clip it on
02

Clip it on

Clip it to a backpack, belt loop, or keyring β€” wherever your child will have it on them. Show them how it works once; it takes about a minute, and there's nothing to set up, pair, or install.

One pull when it's needed
03

One pull when it's needed

If your child ever feels scared or something goes wrong, they pull the pin. A 130dB siren and flashlight go off instantly β€” drawing the attention of everyone nearby, the moment it matters.

Frequently asked questions

Have questions? We're here to help.

No problem at all. Reinserting the pin switches it straight off, so an accidental pull is a quick reset. Most parents do a practice run together so their child knows exactly how it works before they head out with it.

ok the test pull genuinely made me jump out of my skin lol. did NOT expect it to be that loud from something that small. my daughter thinks it's hilarious, keeps threatening to set it off. anyway it's on her bag now and that's all I wanted

Bought green for my son, the clip is a little stiff to be honest but that's probably a good thing, means it won't fall off. He's 10 and worked out how to use it before I'd even finished reading the card. No complaints really.

I'll be honest I bought this half expecting to return it. The amount of tat I've bought for "peace of mind" over the years is embarrassing. but this one's actually stayed on her keyring three weeks now which is a record

Does the job. Loud, simple, no faffing with apps. My only note is I wish it came with the charging cable but most people have a hundred usb-c ones lying around so not a big deal

Carla M.

02/05/2026

my youngest set it off in the supermarket on day one πŸ™ˆ mortifying but honestly kind of reassuring that it's THAT loud. push the pin back in and it stops, took two seconds. she's since learned not to play with it

28/04/2026

Not much to say except it works exactly like it says. Pull, screams, push pin back, stops. My daughter takes the bus now and I feel better about it. That's the whole review really.

Ngozi A.

25/04/2026

honestly the thing I like most is she chose it herself, the colour, and now it's "hers" so she actually keeps it on her. all the other stuff I bought ended up in a drawer. this one she's weirdly attached to

Solid little thing. Dropped it down the stairs already (not on purpose) and it's completely fine. For a tenner-ish per unit on the 3 pack I can't complain.

I overthink everything when it comes to my kids so take this with a pinch of salt but. this genuinely helped me let her walk to her grandma's on her own for the first time. small thing, big deal for me

Wife found it on facebook. I rolled my eyes. Turns out it's actually the most sensible bit of kids kit we've bought because there's no app, no account, no monthly anything. You just charge it and it works. Stand corrected.

Came really nicely packaged, felt like a gift more than an order. Daughter was chuffed. Loud as anything too, we tested it in the garden and got a text from the neighbour πŸ˜‚

Got two, one each for the kids before a school trip. Reassuring to know they had something on them that didn't rely on their phones being charged or having signal. Both came back, both still had them clipped on.

07/04/2026

my 14 year old described it as "not embarrassing" which in teenager language is basically a five star review. it's small and doesn't look like a kid thing so she'll actually have it on her

No nonsense. Loud. Rechargeable. Done. I don't know what else you want from a review. Bought a second one a week later for my nephew.

I was nervous it'd be flimsy at this price but it feels properly made. The pin is satisfying to put back in, my son keeps doing it for fun which I've had to put a stop to. Otherwise great.

Bit sceptical of the loudness claims, you always are. Pulled it in the kitchen and my ears rang for a minute. Yeah it's loud. Point made.

Aileen W.

26/03/2026

honestly bought it more to settle my own head than anything. she walks 8 minutes to school. I know she's fine. my brain doesn't. this helped my brain shut up a bit which is worth Β£30 to me

23/03/2026

The flashlight surprised me, didn't realise it had one. My lad uses it more for that on the dark walk back from training than anything else tbh but I'm glad the alarm's there too.

Three kids, three colours, three happy children and one slightly calmer mother. The multipack was the way to go for us. They argue about everything else but at least they each got to pick their own.

Ryan T.

17/03/2026

Does exactly one thing and does it well. No app trying to upsell me a subscription every five minutes which is more than I can say for the watch we tried before this.

Beatrice H.

14/03/2026

my daughter's a sensible kid, this was never about not trusting her. it's just nice knowing if she ever needed to get someone's attention quickly she's got a way to. that's the bit the phone never solved for me

Callum D.

11/03/2026

Cheap enough to get one for each kid without thinking too hard about it. Loud enough that you definitely know it's on. Small enough they don't moan about carrying it. Ticks the boxes.

Florence A.

08/03/2026

took my son about a day to stop setting it off as a game πŸ˜… but once that phase passed it's just been a quiet little thing on his bag. easy to switch off thankfully.

Bought for my daughter starting secondary school and the bus journey that comes with it. Simple and she actually carries it, which the GPS watch we had before she absolutely refused to wear.

Tabitha R.

02/03/2026

Not the most exciting product to review but genuinely useful. It's loud, it's small, the kids each picked a colour and they're happy. I'm happy. Everyone's happy.

Lorenzo P.

27/02/2026

Wish I'd bought the bigger pack first honestly, ended up ordering twice. Both kids carry one now. Battery's lasted ages, charged them when they arrived and not since.

Joelle B.

24/02/2026

I am the textbook worrier and I've wasted money on every gadget going. this is the first one that didn't end up in the bin within a week. she likes it, it stays on her, the worry's a notch quieter. enough said

Eddie M.

21/02/2026

Straightforward. Pull pin, very loud, push pin, off. Grandkids each got one and their parents were grateful. Can't go wrong really.

Wendy K.

18/02/2026

mint green for her, she's obsessed. it's on her school bag, her swim bag, basically migrates to whatever bag she's using. the fact she WANTS to carry it is the whole win for me

Abdul R.

15/02/2026

Got the 3 pack for my lot. Sensible price, no ongoing costs, and they're loud enough that I tested one and immediately regretted it indoors. Would recommend to other parents.
